Differential

Hello guys. Got a 04 ford e350, diff on it is basically bad. Found a shop with some diffs(whole assembly) there. Wanted to know is their a specific way to tell if my van is compatible or what axle code is it? Don't want to buy a non-compatible diff

How about take your diff to the shop for a physical comparison? If "whole assembly" means the pumpkin, bring the axles to confirm matching splines.

Nyckidd, I've got the internals for a 3.73 non-LS diff that I just took off my '12 E350. Message me if you're interested.

These vans have a few different axles under them. Some full floating some semi-floating. I replaced a semi-floater on my '05 E350 with a full floater. Both were Dana 60's which is basically just the main housing. The new axle came from a van with RSC I think as it had wheel speed sensors at the wheels, not the one sensor in the middle. I ended up adding the tone ring to the ring gear and then welded a bung on the rear diff cover for the sensor. ABS works now. Anyway, there is a tag on the diff with some numbers. Find this and then search for Dana decoder and you should be able to put the numbers in and figure out what the diff will work for.

Thanks guys. I was actually able to get it rebuilt cheaper than what I would have spent buying the diff by itself, not including price to install.
