I've been on other forums and found out that other steering wheels are pretty much a bolt and plug and play with their respective clock springs.(beside the obvious splicing under the dash) I seen one with an explorer wheel but didn't like the wheel itself. There was talk of being able to use super duty wheels which would look better. Any body know what years from the super duty will work. The main reasons for this would be obvious better feeling/looking wheel radio controls and I will still have my c.c.
Well, I have the XL, but mine is an 88, so don't know if there are any differences between the 92-96 wheels and mine. Does have the cruise control built in.
Anyway, my upgrade is a leather cover. It is the full "you stitch it" kind, so it hasn't gone in yet, but I like the idea of a little fatter rim.
Overkill for radio controls no way. I loved the controls in my last truck my wife's car every time I drive my truck I push the cruise buttons and the radio doesn't do anything. Lol. You can upgrade the wheel and wire in a control box between the wheel and the after market head unit and voila. What's a little wiring to update things a little.
