finally got time to install my stage 1 injectors, changed 1 valve cover, cleaned breather, bleed air out of oil rails, buttoned everything up. fired it up, runs rough. ok that is normal set to 1500 rpm for a few minutes still rough. take it for a drive cant get over 20 mph and pyro is at 1300 back to the shop.
too brain dead to do any troubleshoot being I still have the flu.
even while being sick it only took 1 hours and 15 minutes to change them.
Wow, that's an odd one. Where did the injectors come from (and please don't say Pensacola Diesel). When you say it runs rough do you mean it sounds like it's missing, or just that it idles funny? Can't get above 20 MPH sounds like something isn't right. Does it smoke a lot?
rosewood, stage 1 premium.
feels like it is running on 4 cylinders, after taking a break and letting my head recover I remembered i put a new valve cover gasket on the passenger side, dorman is all that was available today, my pyro probe is in the drive side so if there is a problem with the gasket or harness it wouldn't show up on the gauge. the left bank dragging the right side could make it run hot?
anyhow I am going to let it cool down and than start it and shoot the exhaust manifold with a inferred thermometer and see what the temps are.
no code when running or driving it.
I think you're on the right track with what your next steps are. It sounds to me like something is not right and it's hanging an injector or two open and dumping fuel. You didn't miss or double stack a copper (or brass, whatever they are) washer around the nozzle did you?
Sounds like something electrical isn't right. Got all the injectors plugged in? Having the flu and working on this stuff doesn't mix. I'm guessing you want to get it done for the hay run.
got it done!
#3 injector wire was pinched between gasket and head!!!! DOH bart!!!!
anyhow I fired it up and the right bank didn't change temp so I figured it was the doorman gasket and tore in to it, found the pinched wire, quick fix on it until I get a motorcraft gasket.
and yes hay run mid to late July so i need it right.
