460 ZF question

460 ZF question
I have heard that someweres around '89 the 460 has a different sized shaft going into the tranny, is this true? I am wanting to swap a ZF onto my 400 but I dont know if there are more than one version of the ZF. Did they make ZF's for just the later shaft size or for both?
Either that or I also have a 460 that I may rebuild in the future (from a 78 I beleive). Can the shafts be easily changed to fit the newer ZF tranny?
