home security system cameras.
so now i need to get better cameras.
i am looking for something with at least 200 ft night vision, high resolution, and light blocking so i can also read a license plate without the headlights blinding the cameras.
i just spent 45 minutes looking at all different kinds of cameras, and i really don't understand most of the gibberish they have in the descriptions.
i currently have 4 cameras hooked up to a 500gig DVR, with 3 recording for a total of 21 days record time.
any suggestions on cameras that will fit my needs, but not put me in the poor house to buy??
Basically you need to look at how many ft of night vision and how many LEDs it has to see in low light.. Also the higher the tv lines the better the resolution...
The key with being able to capture the *******s are having motion sensor lighting to illuminate the area and having multiple cameras at different angles.
I would recommend a minimum of 8 cameras , but it depends on the area you want to cover
Q-see is a company that are pretty reasonable and easy to setup

the two front corner cameras cover the whole block except for a 10 foot area directly in front of the house. the one on the garage gets the full driveway and 4 ft of the front of the house, and the on e on the blank side covers that side.
you can not move on my block without being seen except for roughly a 6 foot area directly in front of the house.
so coverage is not an issue, just poor night quality vision. headlights blind the cameras. and low moonlight makes it hard to see clarity.
