Hey, my tie rod ends and headed south but have some life left. The alignment is off and there is a little play in the wheel. My Unlifted farm truck gets some abuse on country roads and romping around the farm. I've been looking at dual steering stabilizers. Are there any other components that folks would recommend? Upgraded ball joints and tie rods? I get a discount at four wheel parts so anything from them would be extra swell.
The 04 was the last year of the leaf spring front end. The part that goes bad the most with these is the sway bar end links. I have never done them on leaf spring trucks, but I don't think they are that hard, and are not to expensive.
The ball joints are a little more involved because you need to remove the hub/bearing unit and the axle to get the steering knuckle off. You may want to put new seals in it when you put it back together.
Tie rods are pretty straight forward and not to bad if you have the right puller.
A lot of folks like the Red Head rebuilt steering gear box. I put one on my 05 and it did tighten it up a lot, but mine is the 05 and up which is different.
You also may want to put some new shocks on if you have not done so already.
