Hello I'm sam. And I'm having some serious problems with my 4x4 I have no 4x4 lights on in cluster when turn the key in the on position aND it doesn't engage when I turn my 4x4 selector. And I don't heAR anything in the relays . Any input would be Appreciated. Thanks
The first step would be to check the fuses and get the truck scanned with a scan tool capable of reading body codes. There is a 4WD control module that should be showing a fault code if the system is inoperable.
What do they usually charge to do a scan for codes?
That's a good question, I'm sure it varies a lot. I have a compatible scan tool, so if the OP is anywhere near Connecticut or Massachusetts I'd be happy to help out.
Ok from researching it sounds to me like my problem is gona be a bad gem or 4x4 module. But not sure I have a friend that's gona come read my code in the next few days. Has anyone has any of these problems?

I don't think that's likely at all. I'm no mechanic, but I've been here on FTE for nearly eleven years. And during that time I've seen over a hundred different threads about ESOF four wheel drive not working, and not a single time have I read of a bad module causing that. It's almost always either a vacuum leak at the hub, a bad shift motor, or a failed vacuum solenoid that actuates the front hubs.
Well I thought it was the transfer shift motor but when I start my truck it doesn't recognize that's it's a 4x4. ( the dash light doesnt come on when key is turned . And I have no blown fuses or relays that I know of.
Did you check to see if the 4x4 actually works? it could just be the bulbs/ wiring, but like I said see if the transfer case actually engages, make sure the front hubs are unlocked though, and if you have vacuum actuated hubs unplug the vacuum hose to the knuckle before doing this otherwise the front axle might lock and you cant tell if the transfer case engaged or not because the front axle will be engaged
see if it works and if it does I would just forget about the dash lights but thats just me
