I own a 99 f150 with a 4.2L in it! I am not really a fan of v6's, but got a good deal and want to know of some tips on good techniques of how to give it a good tune up. I know that it is time for one!!
Also does anyone know if a collapsed catalletic converter could rob power and gas milage? The left cat collapsed and I am in between raplacing it but havnt had the time yet. Where is the best place to get hi flow cats or exhaust systems?
What do you mean by collapsed? I have had the porcelin in mine break apart and clog the exit hole......and hell yeah that caused a loss in power! Bigtime!
What I mean is the stuff inside the cat is no longer attached to the inside of the cat, but it is still inside and rattleing away! I am going to replace them!
Also My truck is getting crappy gas milage! I got like 200 miles to a full tank! What can i do to get better gas milage? Is the cat rattiling robing gas milage?
The piece inside is all one piece......when functioning properly. You need a new cat. Make sure that it is rated OBD II or else you wont pass inspection (if they use the sniffer in your state). Since the pieces are broken and loose they are blocking the exhaust from leaving the vehicle and the engine is spending too much effore to push it out.....this is why you are loosing power. Get that thing replaced.
