Need to rewire my 1965 Effie. Has any one done this? I am looking at a couple of wiring kits. What did you use on your rewire? Did you like it? Thanks.
Replaced wiring harness on 65 with reproductions, many of the 61-66 Ford part supplier's started carrying them. Was going to suggest purchasing the 65 Ford truck wiring manual but if decide to go w/ aftermarket not sure it would be of any help, perhaps another member can advise? Purchased harnesses thru Mr. Mustang, Inc. I have not found a company that reproduces the dash harness, they can be repaired but I found it time consuming. If intend adding a few new circuits then aftermarket kit may be better way to go? On my 65 I only replaced the Headlight/taillight, and alternator harness; found the fuel, oil, dome, etc. consist of 1 wire circuit purchased wire at local auto parts store. Advantage of the Repo is only a matter of unplug in the old and plug in the new, same connectors and wiring color codes, I did add 2-3 extra circuits. The tail, headlight, and alternator harness came to approx. $260. Have pic. of Mr. M. harness and price sheet if decide to go that route.
I used an American Autowire harness in my truck. It was easy to install and had good customer support.
They have a factory replacement harness for these trucks. I don't have any idea how accurate that it is or what is included but it might be worth looking at.
