I am on my second alternator in 2 days. I'm stuck in South Carolina. If anybody has any guidance I can really use it right about now.
I hooked a gauge up so I can monitor the alternator. It was charging for about three hours and then it just quit. I had the parts store check both alternators and they checked out fine. I put the replacement alternator on anyway. The new one doesn't seem to be charging either. The truck runs on battery and the further I go the lower the volts drop.
Any help please I'm at a loss to what the problem is.
Thanks for the replys. I was so frustrated I took the truck to the dealership. They had it in the bay for all of 15min. It was a loose wire on the positive batt terminal...grrrrr!
I was back up and running and have had no problems since. The service manager apologized for charging me $30, I just laughed and handed him the money with piece of mind
Glad to hear you're back on the road. That is just like my dad always says, "I'm not charging you to turn the screw, I'm charging you because I know which screw to turn". Sounds like $30 well spent, and knowledge gained.

Glad you got it fixed, that sigh of relief when it was something simple priceless.;-) I knew it sounded like a loose wire.
