swap to auto

I'm looking to replace my 1991 f-150, cause its a standard, I know alot of you love standards, but I'm getting older and don't like all that shifting anymore, problem is, is I love this truck, its a XLT 4.9, absolutly no rust, no accidents and only 60,000 miles on it. Now what would be the chances of a guy putting a automatic transmission into it? Is the trucks computer set up for a standard, what might be some of the pros and cons of doing this, and instead of changing the steering colume could I put in a nice quaility floor shifter, anyone have an opinion on this, thanks

Floor shifters have been discussed here before, I remember several people talking about putting them in. You already have a "floor shifter" now, so why not? I loved the Quicksilver shifter in my '66 Mustang.
You would need a new computer if you went with an E4OD (and maybe the 4R70W) but not an AOD or C6. You might also need some driveline work done (or junkyard ones) if the tranny was a different length than what you have now.
