I have the SAE and Metric Gearwrench set that you can buy at Sears. I love it! can't always use it in every situation though. But they are great quality and they are on sale for half off sometimes. I believe it's a 22? piece set.
For regular wrenches, the best deal around here seems to be Kobalt. Lifetime warranty. I'm kind of fed up with Sears. Big, bulky old wrenches that hurt your hands, vs chrome, thin and comfortable for the same price, sometimes less. Same warranty without the a-holes at the counter giving you a hard time.
I bought Husky ratcheting end wrenches and they say gear wrench right on them.
I went to a local sale 2 weeks ago. Household stuff, tools, furniture, etc, Had to stay a bit longer than I wanted...but got a complete set of Craftsman..up to 3/4..and a matching set of Metric...for $20...Seem there are always bargains at auctions..
Thats a really good deal...but, I just need a good set of Combination wrenches right now...I have socket wrenches (Craftsman) and a bunch of other stuff. I'm going to try and hit Sears tonight and see if they have any Father's Day Deals.
Well, I stopped at Sears after work (they were supposed to have a 32-piece Craftsman set on sale for $39.99). Long story short...they did, but it was the made in China Stuff.
Well, I had the store manager look through the back stock room and I looked at all of the floor stuff, and we finally came up w/ a MADE IN USA SAE 14-Piece Set and a 9-piece metric set. $25 for both on sale (with $25 in rewards points) for the hassle LOL
In case I'm not thinking of any...what are some common size wrenches I def. need? Thanks!!!!

On a daily basis, 90% of my stuff gets done with 3/8 drive sockets from 4.5 to 24mm, 5/16-1 inch, combo wrenches up to 3/4 inch/18mm, and a 1 1/2 all-sixteenths wrench. That is what's in my tool bag, the cabinet is full of other various wrenches and sockets I'll use once/twice a year or for special jobs. ~Bill.
Thanks. I'm a pipefitter by trade, so I have a lot of tools, but was lacking some good combination wrenches and I know Old Fords sometimes have some odd sizes (to me).
For the most part for me, 1/4"-3/4" is enough for me. And the oddball occasional metric is 10-16 MM usually. Anything bigger than that I go to my vintage tools, and some have some real oddball sizes that you don't see now days in new tool sets!
