hi everyone and thanks for taking time to read this. i have an 86 bronco2 (i bought it for $200.00 and it has a solid body and frame but it did not run.)4x4 5 speed, 2.9 and my first question is why is it that i have to advance the distrib. all the way for it to run? i set all of the timing marks and put it at tdc. i even pulled the timing cover off and checked the marks on the gears. and when it does run it runs roughf. the other thing is it is running so rich it is faulling out the plugs. i hope that someone can help me out. thanks, chad! if you want to e-mail me you can at farmboy_272000(No Email Addresses In Posts!).
If the engine is a real dog (no power) you might want to take a second look at the timing chain and
gears. I've seen 2 different 2.9 liters break the pin on the back of the cam gear, the marks on the gears line up, so everything looked fine until you pull the gears off. the cam was off 2 teeth. Hope this helps
