Help with value?

I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to share their expertise to help me understand the value of a truck. I'm looking at what is represented as an almost fully restored factory 4x4 '60 F100. I posted the vin in an earlier thread and after reading a helpful response, am waiting for a pic of the ID card in the glove box to confirm the 4x4 issue. It is supposedly numbers matching. It has a 223 with a 3 on the tree and everything mechanically has been rebuilt and/or replaced. It was taken down to the frame, which was sand blasted. The resto process was completed 6 years ago. The paint was redone professionally 2 years ago in the original light green. No rust. The issues: a cracked exhaust manifold and the speedo doesn't work. The crack is right near one of the bolts on the exhaust side and the speedo sounds like the gauge itself as there is a new cable.

I think I'm too new to post pics. Based on that description, can anyone offer an estimate of value? No big back window, no radio, magic air, etc.. Aside from the 4x4, it seems pretty basic. Also, it looks like it either has a hood (or at least the hood trim- the ford lettering vs just the badge in the middle) from an earlier truck.

If anyone can also weigh in on whether I'm looking at a big expense to fix the exhaust and speedo, that would be a huge help. I've done some research and it seems the manifold is hard to find and many people resort to welding but there are conflicting reports of whether that will hold up. It also looks like the speedo is hard to find. Is this the part where you all laugh at me and tell me all of the parts are hard to find???

Thanks for any help you can provide and for bearing with me. I'm still learning some of the lingo and obviously not yet a member of the "owner's club".

-Joe

I just sent a bunch of pics.

I also just got a pic of the id plate from the glove box. I think I deciphered much of the info but am stumped on a few things. It's a 118" wheel base, color code is B (Caribbean turquoise? - so, it looks like the current color is close to Adriatic green), model F103 (this confirms 4wd, correct?), date is 13D (April 3, 1961?), for trans is has AA (not sure why the second A), axle has 02 (couldn't figure what that means), gvw is 5600, HP is 126 at 4000, and it looks like it was a special order #4546. The only other thing I noticed is that it is screwed on and not riveted. That's a problem, no? Is there anywhere else on the truck I can look to confirm the info?

Thanks!! -Joe

I'm not sure if that motor is a 60. It looks clean, I like it. How much is seller asking? wasn't this truck on the ebay?

It was on ebay. Though it technically sold according to some websites, twice actually, the high bidder was a zero feedback scammer. The owner is asking $12,500.

Where are you from? You couldn't touch a 4x4 fridge as nice as that one here in NC for $10K.....location makes a big difference in value.

I'm not familiar with the straight 6, but it looks like the heater hoses are plugged. Heater core bad?

Thank you for the responses so far. Not sure on the heater core. It was not disclosed as a problem. The truck is in north jersey.

Definately a nice truck. The wrong hood really takes it away for me, as with the alternator conversion. I know it is a great swap if you are using it as a daily but for originality it is killing me. The massive radio hole also detracts, much work needed to get it back to where it was. And yes, definately an older valve cover and head combination which would leave you to believe it is an older engine. The reason I am pointing out all the obvious is due to the face that this truck is in such good condition metal wise, it is a shame the owners couldn't maintain it's originality. As far as a driver though, if the engine is as good as they tout, what a great truck for $7500!

Thanks very much. That is exactly the type of info I was hoping the get. I'm new to the '57-'60 fan club and wouldn't have picked up on anything aside from the hood. I love the way the truck looks and would love to have it at the right price. The problem is the owner had all of the work done professionally and says he has over $20K into it, leaving him very reluctant to take less than asking.

Does anyone have thoughts on the screwed on ID plate? Is that common in these trucks?

Thanks again!

-Joe

should be riveted, maybe something to be concerned about. The VIN is also located on top of frame by the firewall if I'm not mistaken, passenger side I think. we all know that we would never get what we put into these trucks...not why we have em! keep us posted
