computer questions

hi all i have had a efi 460 from a 89 f350 in my 79 for a while now but one question. the computer is for a auto. since its for a auto its like its in park all the time and the rpms drop fairly slow which makes it annoying to shift my manual tranny. can i just unplug the computer and plug one in for a manual? or will i have to change wireing also?

If you think that's what's causing it, just find out the resistance of the MLPS in D or OD and add a resistor to mimic it.

But I think your IAC is bad, or the throttle stop screw has been reset.

Manual Lever Position Sensor - the glorified name for the neutral start/backup light switch on electronic automatics.

The throttle stop screw is just like on a carb, except you're NEVER supposed to change it from the factory setting. There are a few recent threads in one of the forums about how to put it back if you think it's been messed with.
