Just a bigger version of the original. It's a blow up from a 2 inch square picture, so the quality kinda sucks.
Funny thing about the grill. The day this pic was taken we were all at my uncles house for a BBQ, when he got the call back from the owner about the truck. He left with my Dad and they were back an hour or so later with the 53. Hopping out of it with a huge grin, my uncle said, "It runs strong, but that grill has got to go."
It doesn't look as good in the larger picture as it does in the small one. Still an interesting treatment.
It was pretty ugly. I remember him pointing out how the parts were bolted in. Even at 10 years old, I could see it was a crappy install. He had a white painted 53 grill in it the next weekend. I'm not sure if I like that or not. Mines chrome, needs re-chroming, but.
I am doing the sidepipes though, but through electric cutouts and possibly heat shields. My cousin still has the burn scars from the ones on this truck.
It'll be nice to be able to open them up on long trips on the freeway and be able to shut them off and cool them pretty quickly at the flip of a switch when I hit the offramp.
