that sinking pedal feeling.
both rears were seized so i only had front brakes, and the passenger side front was leaking.
anyway, all new parts and the pedal is fantastic, besides the truck stopping again.
this afternoon on the way home from the shop i stopped at a red light. breaks are rock solid. then all of a sudden, the pedal slowly sinks to the floor. but the brakes still hold.
i get home and test them. again, pedal slowly sinks to the floor, but they hold. i am thinking still some air in the system, and park hte truck, with the intention of bleeding them again tomorrow.
i get out and see fluid all over the driveway.
great.
something in the front of the axle is leaking. the frame is drenched. whatever it is, is in front of the frame, on the engine side.
what is in there, the ABS unit?
all 3 of the lines with the braided flex line in them going to the ABS unit are corroded rite above the front axle.
fun fun.
Bought another beater car from a neighbor for $800; '99 Volvo S80 T6 turbo nightmare---it too had brake line issues; sinking pedal, loss of fluid leaking onto the exhaust and smoking like a blown turbo. Like you I had to disassemble what seemed half the underside front end to get to a pin hole leak. NAPA compression brake line repair fitting and all is well once again
Seems age takes a toll on those bare steel lines that are always subjected to every bit of road mess we drive through.
ford opens in a few minutes and i will find out the damages to the wallet. i am assuming the one next to the engine is passenger frontr, the large one in the middle is for the rears, and the one closest to the fender that is leaking is the driver front.
if the price is outrageous, i am just going to do a alloy line patch to the rear line. but the one closest to the fender has to be replaced, besides the leak it is severely corroded rite at the flex section and can not be patched.
