I have spoken with a reputable carb guy who owns and operates a shop in Lake Havasu, AZ. I read him my engine specs and what I was going to being using the truck for and he suggested a Holley Truck Avenger 670.
Attached is the CAM profile. The truck is a 1974 Highboy and going to be running a 466 with C9VE heads and a Weiand Stealth intake, L&L chassis exit headers with a C6 behind it. I will be using the truck for driving around town, and some off-road, but nothing too extreme as far as off-road. Maybe some desert and mountain stuff. I want to get the full potential out of the engine.
Please post your thoughts and your experience to back it up.
I have not run a truck avenger carb because I understand they do not have that great of street manners but work well off road. If you are on the street more than not You may be better off with a street avenger about that cfm range. 600 to 780 would work quite well. The smaller ones have a little crisper response down low and the larger a bit more on the high end of things.
But I run an 870 on mine and it does very well too and the engine is similar too what you describe yours to be..
