Anyone have any experience with this outfit? We are hoping to have a half decent sound system but a vintage look. Any other suggestions that have worked for you?
This doesn't answer your question, but I'm not going to put a reciever in mine. I'm going to get a good amp and speakers and have a place to plug in the iPhone. A USB charging port and 1/8" stereo jack somewhere near the seat, or in the dash with a holder for the phone.
Do you have a hole in your dash already? I was thinking of using a Retrosounds unit because my dash is cut. If it wasn't I would buy a good amp and a iPod and just run the iPod of the amp. There are a couple wiring kits that have a remote to control the iPod too.
I put a Custom AutoSound unit in my Mustang. Looks great, sound sucks, I would not recommend.
Thanks for the response chuck. Just so I'm clear, the custom auto sound that you are unhappy with is NOT the same outfit I referenced in the link above is it? I don't think it is but sometimes it's hard to tell. Different manufacturer? Am I right here? Thx t
I haven't been too impressed with most of the sound systems I have heard in older vehicles. So my plans for a sound system in the 52 are these, sweetest sound in the world.
Hard to beat the sound of a v8 on song! Agreed!
I think the biggest problem with sound would be fitting some decent gear in there, such as an amp for starters. Speaker placement is rather limited too, and I don't imagine acoustics would be outstanding. I guess what I am saying is; I wouldn't be spending big bucks on a superb system if the spatial dimension preclude it from attaining optimum sound.

Here is a slick setup that will work with virtually any stereo head unit that has a removable faceplate. Install the headunit under the seat or any other place in the cab and wire up the faceplate mount to it. Great sound, no visible stereo unit.
This is what I have in my 56 Fairlane. When you push on the face of the stereo it folds up behind the dash. Like I said, not the greatest sound but kind of nostalgic at slower speeds with oldies playing.
