brake dust shields needed?

brake dust shields needed?

88 Ranger 4x4 with rusted out front brake dust shields. I can't believe how difficult they are to find. Are they really necessary and do they perform anything other than keeping dust off the wheels (i.e. keeping snow/rain off the rotors)?

Good question, they may keep things from getting jammed with the rotors.

Ceramic pads will solve the problem...NO dust!!!
