1963 F100
New member here in the Houston, TX area.
My grandfather had left me a 1963 F100. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me some more information about it.
It is not a unibody. It is not a step side bed.
But the bed does have round tail lights and chains on the tail gate.
Straight 6 cyl, 4 on the floor manual.

On the body tag:
114 B F100 81A F 12
5000 114 3600 62
At this point the truck has been sitting in a barn for about 10+ years. Has minor surface rust - but no rot or rust through spots. My grandfather had bought the truck in 1976 to use on his farm. It has been on farm land since then and hasn't seen a paved road since the mid 1980's. Was still in full use on the farm till about 2001. Then as his health was declining, he'd go out and start it every once in a while to keep it running, but at some point it wouldn't start and he didn't bother with it anymore. The truck currently has 59,235 miles on it.
Thank you very much in advance for any help, insight, or thoughts,

Customcab: Thank you! And good to hear you drive yours daily. I love it when people actually drive the classics instead of hiding them in a garage.
NumberDummy: Thank you so much for all of that information!!! Sorry about my poor semantics too! :P My daily driver is a King Ranch that I ended up with, so this is my first real dive into classic Ford trucks, I will do my best to catch onto the Ford lingo.
To be honest most of my experience lies with GM products as the other classics I own are all GM:
1979 Trans Am
1970 Chevelle
1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville
So about the bed of this '63. The factory used the "wrong" bed. Was there a shortage of the intended beds? Design flaw in the intended beds, so they reverted back?
Flaresides weren't all that popular because the beds were narrow and some potential customers didn't want a pickup that had the bed welded to the cab.
Another issue was if the cargo shifted, the Uni's frame flexed, causing the doors to pop open. Not pleasant!
FoMoCo was already using the "wrong" beds on 4WD's and F350's, so in 1962, began offering these bed on 2WD's.
People that bought trucks back then were less concerned about styling, than they are today.
