Air bag light
Got in my 99 Ranger last Thursday and it was missing horribly. One of the plugs had fouled. Got that fixed and this morning got in and the air bag light flashed and stayed on. I normally keep the passenger air bag off, but that light won't even come on now. Any suggestions?

The light should flash a two digit code, if you can get it I might be able to give you an idea of whats wrong.

It is flashing a code 27, but where do I look to find out what the code means?

The most likely cause of the flashing air bag light is the passengers side air bag light not functioning. I don't give advice for working on AB systems because of the hazards involved, I would suggest getting a manual to help you do this repair properly.

Either the local parts store if their manual covers the AB system or ebay for a Ford manual, I know the Ford ones cover it in detail.

Code 27 is for the passenger airbag off light, either a bad connection or bulb.

Would someone be able to look up the code for a 1996 Ranger with the airbag light flashing a code of 42?

Any sugestions?

98 RANGER ERROR CODE 27 FIX
After picking through this thread, I understood where to hunt for the fix to 27. I found it, tried it, and it worked great!!!

It required a little soldering, and I was a rookie, but it still worked.
