Question Explorer Auto Servicing

I have a '97 Explorer & would like to give the auto a service as it has done 180,000 kilometres (australia). Is it hard to do yourself & what is involved?

If the fluid is not burned, just drop the pan and change the filter and fluid. There is no drain plug in the torque converter. If the fluid is burned you can change the fluid in the pan then disconnect a cooler line at the radiator, start the motor and pump some fluid out then refill the pan and repeat until the fluid comes clean. This procedure can use quite a bit of oil. Use a piece of hose over the end of the cooler line to direct the oil to a pan or other container. USE MERCON V !!!!
