Well this morning i was parked and all of a sudden my 2005 f150 5.4l started idling hard and then a coolant sent started coming through the air vents so i shut the truck off and havent started it since. This has never happened before so i have no clue what is wrong if anyone can help me it would be great!
Usually coolant smell inside is heater core leaking. Since it started running rough at the same time*, maybe you have a coolant leak under the hood. Have you looked for it???
* I don't know how this would be related to a coolant leak except maybe it was running hot and you didn't notice.
1saxman is right about the smell in the cab usually coming from a heater core, however the smell can be drawn in through the vent from outside if the blower is running.
Like he said, you need to look around and find the source. Any puddles under the truck? Rough idle could be something electrical getting wet under the hood.
I couldnt find any leaks and there were no puddles but i only took a quick look because i had to get into work but i will need to take a closer look when i get time the truck is parked for now im driving my 95 obs in the mean time.
