Camper shell
Have had my camper top for two weeks now. My truck is not able to fit in the garage. Someday that will change, but not anytime soon. Not listed in order of priority.
Pros:
1. Load up the truck and what is in the bed is protected from the elements.
2. Easy to camp in when on road trips.
3. Truck should drive a little smoother and turn better.
4. Can put childrens wagons and playsets in the back and everyone can see what I am transporting without getting up close.
5. Can spot the truck a mile away and it is usually unique in the parking lot.
6. Looks very cool.
Cons:
1. Must learn to use your side mirrors more. With a truck this big that should already be happening.
2. Seems to dominate the driveway and the neighbor's driveway.
3. May attract theft.
4. Backing up is difficult unless you use your side mirrors. The TT mirros help. Repeat of #1.
5. Any item larger than the height of the camper shell and the bed will not fit. This should not happen that often, if it does then maybe consider a tractor trailer. Just kidding.

Camper shell
When I last owned one, I put it on when I needed it and removed it only when it would get in the way - like a trip to the dump. Taking them on and off (by myself) was always an interesting task and would put paint, etc. at risk.
The only regret I have is that I purchased a pass-through front window and it damaged the paint on the cab of the truck.
