What is this hole in my firewall for? Is there some sort of factory plug that I am missing or should I just make a plug for it? In case it is not obvious in the pic, it is on the driver's side just behind the head.
You're missing a rubber plug. Find a plug from a junkyard or cover it up some other way, because you are letting heat and noise from the engine into the cab with the hole open like that.
That hole was there for the EEC-IV computer wires to feed through on the models that used it. The computer would have been located under the dash, and the wires routed through the firewall to the engine bay.

Thank you! I will see if I can track down a plug on my next junk yard visit.
Here is a photo of the rubber plug you need. it is found on an 84 and up truck with a carb AND DS2 IGN system. I have a spare if the junk yard trip doesn't work out.

I'd be interested if he doesn't get it. Looks like I need one too

I just looked, I have 3 of these. They are a rare find in the Junk Yard and yes I am a pack rat...

Thanks for the pic and the offer. I will make a junk yard trip tomorrow and let you know if I come up with one or not. I would be interested in grabbing one from you if I cannot find one.
