grille guard for f150
so i am wanting to put a grille guard on my 92 f150 after seeing about 3 different kinds of critters big and small on the road the other day. i have searched the internet and so far the only grille guard i can find is a go rhino one that is this one
Go Rhino 3315MB Go Rhino 3000 Series Black Stepguards - Free Shipping on All Orders @ JEGS
it lists the weight of the guard as 95 pounds on their website, this seems kind of light to me but maybe i am wrong. anyway i was wondering if there are 1. any other guards out there that are maybe a little bit more heavy duty, or for that matter any other ones out there at all. and 2. will a guard for or off a similar year f250 or f350 work on an f150 or are they different, my f150 is 2wd if that makes any difference,
lastly i dont want some flimsy little thing in the world that is for looks, if i smoke something or have to push cattle with the 2wd i want it to work

I've been after a bumper forever. I'd recommend staying away from grille guards-especially if you expect it to take a hit from a cow/deer. Those can sometimes damage the truck more from what I have seen. You want something that is mounted directly to the frame and provides a high degree of protection. So now you're in the market for HD bumpers- expensive. I've found 4 brands that make bumpers for our trucks- Reunel, Buckstop, Ranch Hand, and Peacemaker. These are listed in order of most to least expensive. Or if you can fab then you can make your own

I have the one you're looking at in the first post. Mine is chrome though. I'm really on the fence about it, that's why its hanging on the fence in the back yard. I like the lines of it, but I don't care for how it mounts to the bumper in sticks out about 7 inches. The bottom pipe is a step, which is nice, but again, puts you out 7 inches. thinking about doing my front bumper the way I did on my 86 bronco which was a section of 12" x 6" box tube steel with ends capped, and then welding factory bumper ends back onto it. Gave the truck an unbelievable look. BEEF, with a factory flare. Then possibly cutting this guard apart and get it tucked in a little better. Right now I'm just like the grill guard is though, on the fence.

Those grille guards are pretty flimsy and the tubes are very thin. You gotta go to a place like this to get the real stuff:
