towing and weights question
Likewise nobody designs a tow vehicle with ratings dependent on rolling down a perfectly flat road. You'll never find a weigh station with scales that aren't level, because if the load isn't level weight will shift. I've probably driven a good 50,000 miles loaded to over 70,000 lbs, and never once have I gotten an overweight ticket. Point the truck down a grade and you can be certain my steer and drive axles would be over though.
Weights must be taken on level ground, variance for weight shifting up and down hills is built into the specs of the truck.
Next question is since the trailer overall weight is below the max 5th wheel capacity of all HD diesels would airbags increase the cargo capacity of an F250, if so is there a way to measure how much airbags would increase the capacity? NO, bags do not add capacity.
Next question, if I overload the cargo capacity with this trailer would the typical problems just be squat or am I at risk of breaking axles or something else? YES
BTW this is only a dual axle trailer and not one of the huge 3 axle monsters I see rolling. Irrelevant. Weight on your truck counts. You will run out of truck capacity long before towing capacity. I will probably tow 8-10 times a year, so if possible I would like to avoid the dually if possible, but will go that route if necessary. Thanks
