Power window issues...

Hey gang, I got alittle issue here and looking for some electrical advice. First off let me tell you my dad has a 99 f350 7.3 regular cab, with 196,000 on her

About 8 months ago our passenger side window wouldn't go up, I could bring it down no problem but the button would bring it back up.

Now if my dad on the drivers side pressed up on his side the passenger side window would go up, so all this time I would use the window my dad would just press his side to bring it up. We figured the motor was letting go and we would have to change it out soon

Then my fathers died all together sometimes it goes up, some times it won't, it's a real pain, hit the door and she'll move alittle bit... We just lived with it..

Well then it got to the point where the drivers side wouldn't bring up the passenger anymore... With fooling around I discovered if my dad holds UP on the drivers side, and I tap the down on the passenger side the window goes up!! Which got me thinking? The motor is working up and down maybe it's a short

So I talked to a good friend of mine and said before u replace the motors it's most likely the switches ( he works at a Junk yard and the switches are a hot item) so I bought brand new switches,

I out the passenger side in, smooth as glass up and down!! Very happy

Put the drivers side in, the driver side and control the passenger up and down no problem, but we are stuck in the same boat as before when it comes to the drivers side... When I press the up or down button the window won't move but I can hear a relay click in the dash

By hearing the relay click does that mean anything to anyone?

I also looked at the wiring harness the wires going into the plug look good, and the wires in the rubber boot going from the door to the can look good too...

Basically before I try and install a new window motor ( which I already have) is this something as simple as my side and it being a switch?

Any help is greatly appreciated thank you

if it works from the pass. side the motor is okay. I don't have the wiring diagram for a 99 but suspect you have a broken wire, I'd check the drivers side especially between the door and the cab, where it flexes most. It could be anywhere in the circuit but first check anywhere the wires flex when doors are opened and shut, the wire can be broken and the insulating jacket still good, so wiggle and pull on the wires to help find the problem. Also most libraries have wiring diagrams available so check them out.

Thank you for the quick reply, I'm going to take the door panel off and remove all the black tape ( jacket ) on the harness and examine each wire. I bet your correct and it's where the wires go threw the door to the cab, my ranger had the same problem which trigger the dome light and door ajar to stay on

Again as we speak the damn window goes down but won't go up, give acouple of love taps and she goes back up

I'll keep u posted thank you!
