Question ign. switch help

90 bronco the ign. switch quit working.the pot metal horseshoe thing broke that works the rod down to the switch.i have the wheel off and the column tore apart i can see whats broke and i can move it around but not enough room to slide it all the way out it hits the part that tilts the wheel how do i get this out thanks alot

ign. switch help

Had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. I don't remember the whole procedure clearly but I do remember removing the tilt section to get the pieces in and out. If I recall, their was a pin on each side that had to be removed. Not a fun job at all. I lubed it up good with antiseize and at least it hasn't broken again.

I had the same prob on my 90 f-250. instead of tearing down the tilt wheel, I shortened the square leg of the horshoe actuator enough to slip it into the column. all it affected was the gearshift wouldnt lock any more. other than that it worked fine.

and yes it was a pain in the a** to deal with in general, but not insurmountable.
