Im swapping to 5spd in my 94 f250 idi. Does the trans crossmember have to be changed or just moved ahead. A bunch of ppl tell me i need a 5spd one and another person told me i just need to move the auto one ahead and the wholes are already in the frame. Can anyone shed light on this
I too plan to undertake this swap at some point and everything I've found indicates the crossmember must be replaced with a 5 spd one. Youll need the pedal assembly flywheel, clutch, the tranny (obviously lol) and also the manual steering column cover and plate to cover the gear indicators on the cluster. You don't need them per se but it does make it look much nicer and factory imo. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be along later to assist.
Yup haha i found a bunch of stuff just waiting on a shipping qote. But the guy i was talking too said he has done swaps before and used the same cross member but moved it ahead. I do know the standard ones do curve forward.
YES, different crossmember And different driveshafts
Is there already holes in the frame for it and will one from a f150 with mazda trans work for it. Also do you happen to know what length drive shafts i need.
Partway through a major swap, I ran across a
wrecked truck (blown engine) with ALL the parts I needed.
Cheaper than hunting parts.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that what you need
magically appears.

Holes are there.
Mazda crossmember is different
I don't know the exact measurements, But the front will need to be shorter and the rear longer
Do you know if anything off a f150 with the mazda will fit such as the pedals steering column or tunnel cover. Or can the cross member be from a small block zf.
Btw i have done plenty of trying to look up what parts i can swap from a f150 with f250 and found no solid answers. Some ppl say yes others say no on certain parts.
