hello all. been an avid reader of forum for a year or so, better than the evening news. have a 49 f1 v8 flattie that i purchased in '76. had engine rebuilt (my mech ability on a scale of 1 to 100 is a 3) and drove as daily for 8 years. took it off the road (still have it) in 84 because it made a very loud metallic rapping noise (before rapping was popular) that came and went a couple of times. didn't want to kill it, so i stored it. someone told me recently it could have been the push rod for the fuel pump. anyone have any experience with that? thanks in advance for your thoughts, ford f-1's rule. dick r.
