Hello all, recently my buddy had me take a look at his 2000 ranger, it had the 4.0v6, 4x4 with a 5spd. He said his clutch wasn't working properly. I checked it out, tons of fluid down between the back of the engine and the transmission, check the reservoir and it was nearly empty. Filled the reservoir up with fluid and hooked my automatic bleeder up, got a little bit of fluid but nothing after that, fair to say this thing is toast. Sucks because he had a shop do this exact job for him only three years ago.
Just wondering if you guys had any tips for doing this job with this truck, like do I have to unbolt the Y pipe on the exhaust or is there enough room to lift the transmission over it? Anything else specifically I should look out for, and should I go with an oem slave cyl?
