I have a Fleetwood Jamboree motorhome that sits on a Ford Econoline 350. While having the oil changed, the dip stick broke. It had a weld seam and broke at the weld. Now I have to find a new one but can't find one anywhere. The original one was twisted at the bottom like a screw; a replacement that I bought online is not, and I can't even insert it all the way into the dip stick tube. Also, how do I tell what size the engine is? Is there a way the VIN number tells that?
Welcome to FTE.
I see you have 65 reads & no replys, so I'll see if I can get things started.
Have you tried taking the old dipstick to a welding shop, to have the old weld redone???? Take the new one along & maybe they can heat & put a twist in it like the origional & cause it to fit, then you'll have a spare.
Not sure about the VIN #, but perform a site search to turn up our VIN decoder, that might work for the motor, since the chassis is a Ford.
Once your shure of the engine, check out the Motorcraft website for the engines part number for the dipstick & see if it can be ordered online, or from a Ford Dealer.
Have you tried the motorhome website, to see if they have a VIN decoder, or maybe if this is a common problem, or if they had a special dipstick made for that model, maybe you can order one from them.
Or, maybe perform a web search for salvage yards on your model, maybe you can find a used dipstick.
Some thoughts for consideration, let us know how it goes.
