interesting day

if its possible to have a fun and frustrating day all in one i think ive accomplished it yesterday.

well all i finally got stuck. went out to pull a friends k5 out yesterday 7/5/03. well everytime i go to his rescue i have to show him the holes he gets stuck in arent really that bad. (just some ford/chevy rivalry) well i pull up to this hole and plop the front end down in it. this freakin hole swallowed my 39.5s and i was sitting on my frame. then i go to reach for my transfer case shifter to put it in 4x4 then i realize i cant put it in 4x4 because i recently did a gear swap in the rear but havent done the front yet well my friends blazer died in the hole and we called our friend with a wrecker to come tow his k5 home and while he was out there pull my stupid a$$ out of the hole. we get the winch hooked to me and start pulling and all of a sudden the winch takes a dump on us. now we just hook a chain from the wrecker with a k5 on its flat bed to me. well our wrecker friend ends up shifting into 3rd gear before i even start to budge (meanwhile im in reverse helping him) well i get out only to find out i broke a bead on one of my front tires
so now we jack up front end up and pull the tire off and realize wait a second.... i dont have a full size spare (i know idiotic move # 2 for the day) well i put the factory size spare on since its on the front it wouldnt hurt much. we let the truck down and guess what? its flat! 30 minutes later after airing the tire up were ready to roll. all in all it was a fun day here are a few pics but i dont think they do any justice. i guess its time to go get some 17 inch wheels and get away from these 16.5

interesting day

too funny. I wish you had a pic of the look on your face when you realized you couldn't shift into 4x. Although, I don't see see why the different gears would have hurt you...in that thick of goop I would think there would have been plenty of slippage to prevent any binding. What was the gear difference? Guess it would have sucked even more if you suddenly hooked up on all four and nuked. Yea, the whole lack of a safety lip on the 16.5s drives me nuts. I ditched my rear 16.5 Boggers in the rear in lieu of 15s. Too bad I can't do that in the front (yea I know, but I just don't want to grind my calipers).

with the disk brakes on the rear i cant d o it with anything under a 16.5 unless i grind the calipers. but like you said im not very interested in going that route heh. the gear difference is 4.10 in the front and 4.88 in the rear by the way. even with everything that happened. we still had fun tho. and i realized there are a few things i need to take care of soon lol
