2001 escape not running right

need some ideas on what to look for. 2001 escape 3.0 starts and runs but it has a miss and no codes came up yet . the engine will rev up but it really takes time to ideal down . don't matter if its cold or hot it just don't want to drop to ideal as fast as it should . any suggestions would be a big help . thanks everyone.

Probably either a vacuum leak or a sludged up IAC valve or something gumming up the throttle body and plate.

What projectSHO said would be my first idea. If the plenum has been off and new gaskets not used I would look there first. If they were not replaced then a leak may be immediate or develop over time.
Then look for cracked or collapsing elbows in the emission lines to the valve covers to the intake tube. They are noted for going bad and causing problems.

Fuel filter will cause that issue when plugged up

A fuel filter will not cause the symptom of not idling down correctly. That's a function of the IAC which assumes a properly operating throttle and no vacuum leaks.
