I recently purchased a 2012 F150 lariat 5.0 with 38k miles and everything has been great i bought it. Last night on the way home the speedometer flipped out and is stuck way beyond the maximum speed marked on the gauge. I check the instrument panel fuse and it was not blown. All of the other gauges are working properly.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> Has anyone heard of this before?<o></o>

Hi lsukevinc,
I recommend getting your truck in to your local dealership so they can check things out. Circle back and let us know when you have a diagnosis.
i have an appointment scheduled for next week. i'll post the results. I cannot seem to find the problem anywhere. i am curious to see what it is. All of the other gauges work fine.
Pull the ground clamp off the battery and let it sit 15 minutes... let the computer "reboot". Reconnect and retry.
I dropped it off this morning. i'll let the dealership figure out the problem. i have a zero deductable on my extended warranty, so if it is a simple computer reset it will be free.
the dealership just called and said i need a new gauge cluster. now the extended warranty is giving me trouble because i just bought the truck and the warranty package and i am already making a claim.

Any help greatly appreciated.
I'll be happy to look into this for you, lsukevinc. PM me your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, current mileage, and servicing dealership; I'll research some ways to help.

Let me tell my whole story. I initially called three different ford dealerships about repairing my truck (all-star, sterling, and hub city). Sterling was the only one who returned my call after leaving messages because that is where I bought the truck. However, the Sterling dealership is over an hour away. I finally brought it in to All-star and they have been horrible about returning phone calls. Monday they called and said an inspector from the extended warranty place had to go look at the truck because they are claiming I knew about the issue before I bought the extended warranty, which I did not. Here it is Wednesday morning and I have not heard anything back. I have called and left two messages at All-star ford and have heard nothing. I just got off the phone with ford customer service and they said there is nothing they can do, I will have to wait for the All-star dealer to call me back.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o> </o> I have to admit this is my first ford, and I am highly disappointed. It is a 2012 with 38k miles. I realize it is over the 36k mark, but there is nothing ford can do to help? The customer service employee said there is nothing they can do and I am responsible for the repairs if my extended warranty company turns down the claim.<o></o> <o> </o> Is there anyone who can help? I work for a fairly company and we have two attorneys on the pay roll. Should I get one of them involved with ford or the extended warranty company?<o></o>
If the extended warranty you purchased was anything other than the Ford ESP, that is where your problem is. Aftermarket warranty companies are notorious for seemingly having more loop holes to avoid coverage than actual coverage of parts.
Your problem isn't with Ford or the Ford dealership. It is with the warranty company which so far has not agreed to pay the dealership for any work they perform. The warranty company is the one you need to deal with.

you are 100% correct. I just was ticked off becuase they would not return my call. All star just called and sid the warranty company denied my claim. I plan to call the warranty company back and ask how they detwemined it was a pre existing problem. i have owned the truck less than 5 weeks.
Usually selling dealership has to certify the truck is problem free before they are able to sell a warranty on it. I would suggest you take truck to selling dealership and let them sort it out with warranty company. It should be selling dealers responsibility to verify coverage and get it repaired, not yours. If it is an internet warranty.... well good luck.
