Backfires through carb

77 Ford van 351W

Starts fine, idles fine, drives fine for 30 to 45 minutes. Then, when stopped, begins to idle rough. Taking off produces popping through the carb. Then as car is driven popping continues intermittently.

Have replaced plugs, ditributer and rotor, fule filter, PCV valve, fuel pump. Car passed emmission test when taken in before the 30 to 45 minutes went by.

Could be the ignition module breaking down when it heats up or the pick-up coil in the distributor going out when it heats up.

Backfires through carb

I have a 1979 an i had the same problem as you,and i found out that the problem was that the timing needed reset,and that my carb needed rebuilt,so you might want to have that checked
