The junk yard is in Lock Haven, PA. The grizzled old owner is in a home with his wife. They both have dementia. To pay for their care their daughter is scrapping the cars and trucks. It is a shame but a lot of these were/are in real bad shape anyhow. There is nothing newer in the yard than a mid 70's vintage.
I knew a guy who did that here in Maine. That poor guy would get stopped everywhere he went to have someone come up to him and say ' I have a birch tree with a dead branch that overhangs my driveway - can you come and look at it and see if I should get it cut down?"
The guy would do forestry plans for large tracts but everyone figured he's their guy to tell them about which bushes to plant in front of their house or what type of firewood to buy.
The owner of this truck probably got the same interruptions.
Cool pictures. Looks like an 8-lug which rules out an F1.
Tom
By the way, it is an 8 foot bed, approx.
A satelite and aerial map, laptop and set of regs and it can be done remotely. Not even a good pair of boots required.
You can bet that the guy who drove that truck earned his pay the hard way.
The flatbed was probably used to take tree samples and analyze the growth ring patterns.
But i bet he knew where all the good bird & deer hunting spots were.
