I have a 2011 350 SRW with 60k and like the truck....I can trade for a 2104 loaded Laramie Dodge for 13k......pretty nice truck with the Cummins.....should I trade.....supposedly the 2014 are getting great mileage........on the fence..I've always had Dodges and am worried how far the Ford will run and if Ford will be there when it doesn't
Ummm, kinda hard to say for sure. That seems like a personal choice to me. If you are not confident with your current truck and you feel a brand change would make you feel better, and the finances line up in your favor, why not.
Confidence has different values depending on each individual.
Let us know how it goes, and, we love pictures. Good luck.
With the modern equipment on these vehicles, you'd just have the same worries with the Dodge when you hit that mileage. Rams are nice, own one myself. However unless you've experienced issues with your Ford, If I were in your shoes, I'd just hold onto my Ford. Especially since it sounds like you are happy with the Ford. If anything, maybe look into extending your warranty if you have the option so you don't lose sleep over possible future mechanical issues.
Any way you slice it... it's still a Dodge. I personally got burned by a 6.7L cummins, and if I had a choice I would choose a Duramax over the Cummins. So far I love my 6.7L PSD.
Not real sure what you're worried about with your truck; it's already taken the brunt of the new truck depreciation over the last three years. That $13K depreciation is already gone, and as long as your truck is running good why would you get rid of it?
If you are concerned with cracking valves you can spend the money on an extended warranty and avoid the depreciation. Both trucks have fuel systems that are liable to grenade if fed some bad fuel, so if that's your concern you should look at a gas truck.
Well, since you asked, I would keep your truck. The extended warranty (Ford ESP) is a great suggestion, if you can still get it.
Mine runs great at 58,000. The only reason I have thought about trading is I could use a crew cab but it's not worth the cost so I'm still happy with mine.
Keep the truck you have. You like it and sounds like its been good to you.Only 60k? Just breaking in.As said if your worried get the ford esp ext warranty. You have a great truck.
Selling a perfectly reliable vehicle that's running fine because you're afraid it could break down in the future is like divorcing your wife just to be sure she never leaves you.
The new 6.4 in Ram is giving some pretty good mileage for a gasser. When you look at the numbers 13-16ish.....it makes a strong argument against the diesel if you don't need it.
I like the Ram...prefer the truck actually, but their track record and service records are terrible.
I would stay with your current truck for the long haul.
If I where interested in a gas HD truck I would take a look at the RAM 6.4 Hemi, but I would like to see how the 5 link spring rear suspension holds up.
I had to unload our 05 RAM Cummins early this year and purchased a 7.3 PSD Super Duty. The Dodge was just costing us too much $$$ to keep rolling.

Are they still burning fossil fuels in 2104 trucks?

They are putting out great numbers.I was reading on a particular RV site and this guy is posting videos talking a lot about his 14' RAM 6.4L.I could not believe how well this truck pulled his fiver and was cruising at 2200 RPM.
I don't think RAM was quite as smart as Ford when making their gasser.Ford made the numbers between the diesel and gasser huge.I think RAM's numbers are still a good separation but from what I've seen the 6.4 gasser is so far pretty easy to pick over the Cummins.IMO Fords 6.2 needs a big performance boost but yet is proving to be stone cold reliable,And I much prefer reliability over performance.
