Got $1000.00 looking for performance!
I,ve got a 97 f-150 with a 4.6. I've also got 133K miles. I would like to pick up a little more performance for pulling trailers and such. What would be the best place to put my money in a high mileage vehicle...exhaust, air filter, chip....What to do. Thanks in advance for the advice

lower rear gears? I don't know what you have now. 3.73 or 4.10 will help. Flowmaster cat back system. A true cold air intake set-up and possibly a good computer chip.

How much does is cost to get your gears changed??? and also what type of change would you recomend for more performance?? My truck specs are in my sig. Thanks!

I put a Diablo Sport chip in my '99 F-150 and noticed more gains from that than cold air induction, headers, and exhaust put together. It was about $220 and instalation took about 30-40 min.

The Yukon line gears are very high quality....you can get them from Randy's Ring and Pinion. The going rate for installation is somewhere around $250 per axle.

Gears will cost about $200 per axle. Plus installation. You should be able to get them installed for about $300 or less. That would leave you enough money for a chip which will let you reprogram the computer for the new gears and also give you more power.
