Regretfully I will be selling the '53 F350 I have had for about 28 years. It has been such a faithful friend. I love to drive it on back roads listening to the sweet sound of that flathead. but the reality is that I have too many trucks/projects, not quite enough storage space under cover, and the wife wants to travel more. It is listed on ebay item # 331183454544.

Very nice original truck, hard to find these days! Does it have widowmakers? I'd assume so. Good luck with the sale! I am sure you'll miss it!

Very nice truck. I had one exactly the same, maybe not quite as good. I was born in '53 and bought it for my 53'rd birthday about 8 years ago. I saw that it recently sold from Canada and went to New Zealand. It had been listed on a website for 12,000. If he got that, he tripled his $. I would perhaps have gone dually too if I had kept it. Would take a cab/chassis rear axle, which is narrower and you'd need to tub the inner fenders in the box. Then you buy the 4" wider glass rear fenders to cover the outer. To just stack another set of wheels on that axle would have made a VERY wide truck. Someone please buy it and do that so I can watch and see if it works. Very nice tonner for some lucky person! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments guys. A couple of interested partys looked at it today and thought it looked even better than the pics (which are not great by the way). There is definitely some interest. But maybe you know how it is, when you've had something so long, when it gets right down to it it is hard to let it go. But that is the way it is.

That is a very nice looking truck.
I hope it finds a wonderful home. When you do sell it, be sure to send them our way.

Where is Stu? When did they stop using widowmakers?

Man, don't let it go if you think you are gonna regret it. There are few feelings worse than the grief one has of wishing "if only I'd kept it..."
Just my 20c worth; I'd keep it, do the dually thing you always wanted to do with it. Once you've done that and you have had your fun with it, then let it go, or at least weigh it all up. Just sayin'. I'm living with the despair of selling off a really interesting old 55 Buick Century coupe that I should never have let go. It's just an awful feeling..

Your truck looks great. My truck is a '53 tonner like yours except painted blue. I've had it since 1980 and although I really don't know what I'll do with it when I'm done restoring it, I would have a tough time selling it. Hope you get plenty for it and enjoy your travels.

My regrets have faded away, as it brought an astounding $19,100. Two guys wanted it bad. The one that got it seemed to be the right one, as it was the same as his fathers first truck. There were other bidders also that pushed it up a ways, one from Saudi Arabia. I went about 15K beyond my reserve. You never know!

This is unbelievable, stock in our good old F350's just went up!

I suspect a lot of this had to do with the originality and the specific year/bed style, but it makes it tempting to test the waters with a half-baked, semi-restored, “custom painted” flat bed.

I don't want to jinx it, but let us know when the funds clear.

+1 Be sure to hold the title until the fund totally clear, usually about a week but ask the bank, even if the bank says the check is good when you deposit it. Even electronic wire transfers are being scammed today. If they want to give you a check for more than the price, RUN the other way! Make a photocopy of their drivers license and a credit card. You can't trust anyone these days even a relative.

Congratulations! A great truck and so glad that you sold it for a great price. Who says that the economy is bad!
