Lighting on instrument panel out

Just purchased 95 explorer. Just noticed last night that some of the lights on the instrument panel are out. Is it difficult to get at the bulbs, or is this a fuse problem? On the speedo, only the 50/60/70 range is illuminated. Tach is also out. Looked in owners manual, no real help there.

Thanks list....Appreciate any suggestions here.

I had a light out on my dash board. I fixed it myself, but it was a somewhat long process. It was just the bulb, no fuses or nothing. Not to complicated, just long, and a lot of tight places for a wrench. Good luck

Did you have to remove the dash, or were you able to do it from the outside?

Hi Magnetic,
The same happend to me with my '95 Explo, you have to take out the dash, on the back there are 4 black bajonetfittings, they hold the bulbs.
Removing the dash is a bit tricky, first disconnect the batterycables (airbag!) start with the panel below the wheel, included the hood release handlebracket, ashtray and the screws in the centerconsole.
Remove the steel reinforcementpanel below the wheel.
Remove the bezel retainingscrews, tilt the wheel down to lowest position.
Pull the top of the instrument cluster bezel outward while disengaging the lower half, remove the bezel.
Remove the 4 screws that hold the instrumentcluster and manouvre it out (push in the hazardswitch for space).
Be carefull with the tiny cable that pulls the shifter arrow.
Good luck, Tony.

You dont have to take apart the whole dash magnetic, just part of it. I just started at one spot, started taking things apart, and when i couldn't get any closer, reexamine it, and proceed to a differnt part. Just be really careful with the needles, try not to touch them or knock them with anything. Good luck
