as soon as I can get into my new garage I'll be tearing my f350 completely down, one of my plans is to build a dumping flatbed with the looks of the cm brand, my front fuel tank is inoperable and rotted, I would like to completely remove it from the truck and just have my rear tank, I would like to house the hydraulics where the front tank is.
How can I go about capping the high pressure fuel lines? I haven't looked much into it but I was thinking about buying a junkyard sending unit and cutting the fuel fitting pieces off then tig welding them shut and hooking them into the fuel lines on the frame, has anyone done something similar before?
Sounds like the tig welding is the plan of attack, I don't think I would trust soldering it shut, I was thinking about crimping the line shut then welding or inserting a small steel dowel then filling with weld
5 minutes with a grinder and you can make plugs for the lines. The piece on the top right is one of the plugs I made from the stud below it.. cut off the threads and shape the nut so that it can be retained by the factory clips. Note you will need 2 different sized studs to make plugs for both lines. The part on the left is a check valve from the factory recall and is not related to this.
