I am not sure if they would be interchangeable.

Ford shows a seats frame compatibles of 86-89, 90-91, 92-97.

I would measure the bolt holes on the two seat frames and see if there is any difference. If not, you are good to go!

If you want the seats from the '86, remove your seat bases and take them with you. Put the seats on your seat base and make sure the holes line up. If they line up with untapped holes, then just go get yourself an M8X1.25 tap (check against your seat bolts) and tap the holes that you need. If the tapped holes already line up, make sure the '86 has metric threads to match your seat bolts. If not, find the appropriate bolts at the hardware store. Fords have a very weird mix of English and metric bolts.

I put seats from an Explorer in my '97. They tilted up more than the Aerostar seats. Lots of seats will fit, but you may have to tap some of the holes in the seat frame. Usually, there's one set of holes in the rear of the seat frame and 2 or 3 in the front. Not all are tapped.

Ranger, Explorer, Escort, Mustang and other seats from the early to late '90s will fit. If you're picky, though, you'll find that sometimes the seats from different models have different molding on the seat base and it won't look like the Aerostar seats because of this. Aerostar seats have no molding at the seat base.

I just go to the u-pull-it yards and start pulling nice seats from donor vehicles and make sure the holes line up with the Aerostar seat base. You'll also note that the sliding seat bases from Explorers and Rangers (probably other models) will fit the Aerostar front passenger seat base. That way, you can have a passenger seat that will slide forward/backward to provide more legroom for whomever needs it.

the non-adjusting passenger seat in all Aerostar have a taller seat-pedestal or "base" than the Driver's side seat. If you want an adjustable passenger seat, (front to rear adjustment), make sure you get the pedestal and the tracks from the driver's side seat.

Otherwise, I've owned a 1986, a 1992, and now a 1997 Aerostar, and all the front seats have been identical in all three. Whether the seat pedestal holes match the floor holes, I don't know.

Wheel & tire size change question

Been off my computer for a while-just wanted to thank you all for your helpful answers and quick response- much appreciated.
One more question-I know there are a lot of choices, but I don't want to do any mods,so,will 15"rims from a '97cherokee se fit w/ no problems on my '93 aero? If so,what size tires do you recommend? (don't know how to post a photo of the wheels, but I have one)
