I have a 07 Prowler 280 FQS that has a lazy slide. When I push the button, I have a 50/50 shot of the slide moving in or out. The motor is under the trailer. If I rotate the motor, it will move. Will work for a couple of times then stop again. The slide never stop mid way, it always go all the way in or out like it should. This has been tolerated for the last 2 years but now it is time to fix. I did swap the switch with no change.

Thanks for the help.
Not sure I am following so let me make sure I am on the same page. When you say "rotate the motor" you mean you turn the motor shaft? If that is the case, my first thought would be your motor ammeter has a dead spot and the motor needs to be replaced. To verify this, when the slide will not move, disconnect the motor leads and hook them to a battery. Do not rotate the motor shaft. That way you have bypassed everything else in the system and isolate the motor. If you still have the problem you have motor issue, so start with the simple stuff.
It is virtually never the switch. Everyone changes what is easiest to do, but I replace a slide switch maybe once or twice a year.
Steve ....in your vast rv repairing knowledge, do most dealers keep extra slide motors on hand or do you think it will probably have to be ordered?
My knowledge is significantly less than vast.
Dealers do not normally stock motors as there are simply too many and they do not need to be replaced often enough to justify keeping them in inventory; I never do. Also be aware on the Power Gear motors for example, they cost a fortune and you would probably do better to get the number off the motor and shop it on eBay.
The motor is bad. It is a lippert slide assembly. Took off unit touched on battery, nothing, rotated assembly motor came to life. The dealer I got the camper from had one in stock but either the bolt tensioner was stripped or it didn't have threads. They are going to order me one and should be here tomorrow. Going camper this weekend and the wife is spazing.
Do you think the motor itself can be rebuilt? The dealer just had the whole assembly. Once the new one gets put on the camper I will try and pull the motor. It works now, just don't want really not make it work.

Lippert used to sell in sections, but most of them stuff now comes with the motor and assembly, you can't get just a part. I have not idea if the motor can be rebuilt. It is no problem pulling it as the assembly is easy to break down. You can always get the slide in manually if you have to. It is just not as easy.
Well my new slide motor assembly came in today and it didn't have a threaded connection to bolt to the actuator. The Rv Dealer called their supplier who in turn called Lippert and found out that they had changed the motor assembly that no one apparently knew about. They wanted to sell me the new actuator for an additional $250.
Not going to happen. The wife picked up the new assembly and I will replace just the motor. Keeping my fingers crossed that when I remove the 2 motor screws, all the gears don't fall out.
