Squeaky lower ball joint...
I recently replaced the right lower ball joint on my '96 Explorer and it took some time (3-4 hours) and effort but really wasn't too bad. I rented a ball joint press from AutoZone (you buy the tool, about $100.00, then return it for a full refund). This tool is a must! I had a little trouble getting the upper joint out of the steering knuckle, but using a sledge hammer did the trick. Other than that, it was a piece-a-cake. Good Luck!
