I decided to go ahead with the static pedal instead of the adjustable. It was $300 less and the static position is fine. Easy swap, harness plugged right in.
I opened up the old one and was very surprised at what I saw. I melted down the plastic buttons and popped the cap off. Under the cap, its a plastic card with those black curves on it, they look a little worn down. Doesn't look like there is anything serviceable in here, unless you replace the card (with what??).
The black arm is attached to the pedal directly and sweeps across the curves. You can barely see the wear in the black curves. The arm has something that resembles feelers (gold and silver thingeys).
Looks like when the black wears down and exposes more metal underneath, its shot.
Dunno' if this helps anyone, but just a "Here's whats under the cover" type of deal for those curious minds.
Interesting. Part of me love's seeing the inside of stuff like this. The other part cringes thinking of all these gizmos that control and can take down our trucks. And our stuff is considered low tech by today's standards.
