Max Tire Size
I was wondering if someone could tell me what the max tire size i could put on an almost stock 77.5 f-150 4x4. i dont know the gearing sorry. the body isnt a problem it can be lifted i just wanna know what the axles can handle thanks.

well it also depends on what axle you have, the front is probably stock and gonna be smaller than the rear. its more than likely to be a dana 44 which is what i have on my 77 f250. im running 36 x 14.5 which is way to big for a stock dana 44. it might handle it with upgraded axles from warn or something, but ive heard the stock 44 can only handle up to a 35 in. tire, but i wouldnt push that unless you upgrade the axle shafts.

Going by the FourWheeler magazine article on axles a few months ago, your Dana 44/Ford 9 inch is a 35 inch tire max. I only plan on running 33x12.50 or 34 x9.50 on my 1971 Dana 44/Ford 9 inch. Just because I hate breaking expensive parts in the middle of the woods.
I had 33s, but, went to 31s for normal city driving. 31s are only 29 inches tall after they settle, way too low for serious off-roading or mud.
