Repair or Replace Engine
I have a 07 Expedition EL with 156,000 miles. Last week the truck began to deceallerate while on the interstate. I pulled over and a loud knocking noise started and the truck began to shake. No lights came on, nothing was smoking. After being towed to Ford dealer I was told the connector rod busted and I would need a new engine.....$7500. Is that the only option I have? I love and need Big Blue but $7500 is A LOT of money. Recently I had a spark plugs changed, multiple flushes,oil change and tire rotation at the dealer so I am blown away that Big Blue shut down like that. Do I have any options? Should I find a used engine from a junk yard? I'm at a loss. Any help and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'd find a used engine and have a trusted person do the install correctly.
Another thought, if you love the truck beyond belief, you may consider an engine / trans swap such as a Jasper and have a great warranty to boot.
